OA voters approve budget, buses and library funding

On Tuesday, May 16, the Owego Apalachin (OA) 2017-2018 budget was approved by a 607-261 margin (69 percent voted yes). There were nine abstentions recorded.

The district’s annual bus replacement plan was approved by a 649-215 margin (74 percent voted yes). There were 13 abstentions recorded.

Increased taxpayer funding for the Coburn Library in Owego was approved by a 601-268 margin (69 percent voted yes). There were eight abstentions recorded.

Four candidates ran for three available seats on the OA Board of Education. Each seat carries a three-year term. Vote totals were Stacey Riegel (657 votes); Kathie Rollison (630 votes); Dan Whippo (537 votes); and Lee Dunham (483 votes). Riegel, Rollison and Whippo were elected to the board.
