AMBA screening offered on May 20 in Owego

The New York State Women Inc., Susquehanna Chapter (formerly Owego Business and Professional Women) is sponsoring its 44th annual spring AMBA Wellness Blood Lab on Saturday May 20, at the Owego United Methodist Church located at 261 Main St. in Owego from 6 to 10 a.m. 

The AMBA Wellness Program includes blood tests for Coronary Disease, Liver and Kidney Disease, Anemia, Diabetes and other types of diseases. The cost for the full AMBA blood panel, including the NYS Women Inc. sponsorship fee is $47.00 ($40.00 for the basic blood panel and $7.00 to the NYS Women Inc.).

In addition to the basic blood panel the following optional tests are available and require a separate script from a Physician: Prostrate Specific Antigen (PSA), TSH, Vitamin D-25, Hemo-globin A1C and Insure Colon Rectal Kit.  

Checks are to be made out to AMBA for $40.00 and any additional tests and $7.00 sponsorship fee made out to NYS Women Inc. 

Pam Pringle, chairperson, stated, “With all the changes in the health insurance, many people find themselves with high deductibles to be met before any services are covered. While this has been a valuable program for many years, it is even more so now, as those unable or unwilling to spend hundreds of dollars for routine testing can still get the screenings needed to maintain their health.”
