Owego students participate in NYSSMA Solo festival

Owego Apalachin Middle School (OAMS) band members recently participated in a NYSSMA Solo festival.

Forty-five 45 students participated in the festival (that’s 33.3 percent of the OAMS band program). All students performed solos this year, ranging from level I to level V, ten students performed more than one solo, 14 students earned “Outstanding” or “A” ratings (one student – Alex Senko – earned a perfect score), and 29 students earned “Excellent” ratings.

“Our musicians did a wonderful job,” said Lindsey Williams, OAMS band director. She added, “It is an honor to work with these hard-working students in such a supportive community.”
