Beaded flower workshop at the Bement-Billings Farmstead

On May 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., a workshop on Tuscarora Beaded Blue Bell Flowers will be presented at the Bement-Billing Farmstead Museum located on Route 38 in Newark Valley.

For this workshop, participants will learn about raised beading techniques with well-known native and beading artist Rosie Hill, who reinterprets the wild blue bell with art nouveau flare. Participants will be able to make a medallion and the local blue bells on site are expected to be in bloom. 

The cost of the workshop is $35 for Newark Valley Historical Society members and $40 for non-menbers. Register by April 28 by calling Leslie at 642-5412. 

Also at Museum, on May 6, a nature walk for kids age’s five to 10, who are accompanied by an adult, will take place at the Sycamore Trails from 11 a.m. to noon. Call 642-8075 to reserve a place for $2. Participants may observe the beading workshop at Welcome Center.
