Due to the amount of rainfall over the past week, and the melt off and rain that continues to flow from other areas, the counties surrounding the Susquehanna River will remain under a flood warning.

According to the National Weather Service, the Flood Warning continues for the Susquehanna River until Sunday evening.

At 3 a.m. Friday, the stage was 20.8 feet. The flood stage in Vestal near the Susquehanna is 18.0 feet.

Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.

The Weather Service is forecasting that the river will crest near 22.9 feet around 2 p.m. Friday. The river will fall below flood stage after 8 a.m. on Sunday.

At 23.0 feet, flooding begins at the intersection of old Vestal and African roads.

The Town of Owego also announced that Hickories Park in Owego is closed until further notice. They stated that anyone caught entering the park will be ticketed.
