Black Cat Gallery celebrates seven years in business!

Robert, Gordie and Brian.

Come celebrate with the artists of the Black Cat Gallery for a “Birthday Bash” on Friday, March 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. Join them for a celebration at the First Friday Art Walk with birthday cake, live music, and the fine artwork of more than 40 artists.

The music for the “Birthday Bash” will be “Robert, Gordie and Brian”. Robert Heinrich, Gordie Gottlieb and Brian Schendel have an aggregate 95-plus years of musical experience with songs and styles that range from folk, country and blues, to rock and jazz standards. Each has performed extensively with various groups, and as solo acts, before teaming up in 2011.

Whatever the musical style, they gravitate toward songs that tell stories of people and stories of life. They create rich instrumental beds for their vocals, blending a wide variety of acoustic stringed instruments including 6-string, 12-string and classical guitars, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer, charango, autoharp, cuatro and others.

Together, these talented musicians put out a sound that is sure to delight and entertain. Enjoy a fun night out, jam a little, and take in some great art and creative craft.

The featured artist for the month of March is Katie Campbell. Katie has been an artist at the Black Cat for many years, since she was a student. Katie is now a talented illustrator. Come view her artwork in the book “Little Laveau”, a book written by Erin Roven and illustrated by Katie Campbell. Katie also creates cards with local Owego images in black and white, which are very popular.
