Knox, who passed away in July 2015, was a long-time Owego resident and highly regarded as always having the betterment of the community’s children in mind. Well known in the community for his generosity and commitment, and dedicating most of his life to Tioga County youth sports and activities, Knox retired from the Tioga County Boys and Girls Club after working there for 18 years.

As shared by family members, “Bob touched the lives of many youth. He truly loved his 18 years serving the youth with the Tioga County Boys and Girls Club.”

Bob’s volunteer efforts were far-reaching and included 20 years with the Owego Junior Football League, and where he served as president at one point. A host of other sports Knox was involved with included lacrosse, baseball, basketball and wrestling. When he wasn’t volunteering or coaching youth sports, Knox was an avid golfer.

The spaghetti dinner will be $5 per person and will include bread. Additional food items to accompany the main entrée are being planned. The Chinese auction will feature a variety of items such as gift cards, services from area businesses, gift baskets, hand-crafted gifts or other merchandise.

A display on the day of event will recognize area businesses and individuals who have made donations.

Event proceeds will be used for a monetary scholarship, in Bob’s name and memory, which will be given to a selected graduating senior at Owego Free Academy.
