Does anyone have information about a large pig farm being built on Route 38B in Newark Valley?

Five positions will be up for election November 2017. They include the Town of Spencer Supervisor, Town Clerk, two Town Council positions and Town Highway Superintendent. It’s NOT too early to start planning a run. Let’s clean house!

Vladimir Putin may not only own Trump, he may completely own the Republican Party. The two have become the dancing monkeys for Putin.

All of us on Frank Hyde Road in Owego would like to know where the box is for “partial payment” on the recent Town and County Tax Bill. You see we on our hill only receive “partial services”. The only time we get “full services” is when school is in session and on time. Other than that we are fortunate to get any snow and ice removal services at all. However, our employers still expect us on time and at work. And sometimes we don’t get a “full truck” but rather a “partial” small pick-up that only does one lane, making it extremely dangerous when two cars pass each other. Frank Hyde comes off of McLean, which is a “full service” road. Usually when we creep down Frank Hyde in the snow and ice, we find that McLean has been “fully serviced”. When the Town repaved McLean, they did the entire road. When the Town repaved Frank Hyde, they only “partially did” random sections of the road. Ever hear the saying, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link? Given the “partial services” of snow removal and paving, we, on Frank Hyde Road, would request a revised Town and County tax bill. We all think about 50 percent would be reasonable; so we look forward to the new bill.

The Democratic Party is their name. Slander is there game.

For more than 20 years, Congress has investigated Hillary Clinton. They have probed the Whitewater land deal, the Benghazi raid, her email use and, finally, the Clinton Foundation. These investigations have cost millions of dollars and have found that she did NOTHING ILLEGAL! Isn’t it time that our tax dollars are spent on something worthwhile? By the way, I am a Republican.

Soon we will have a president installed by Russia. I remember when Russia was considered an enemy. Not anymore. The world laughs and calls us rubes.

~

This column has become a forum for biased people to vent their lies, innuendos, misinformation and insults. Why does this stuff get printed? I find most of the comments to be laughable and sad.

When we were children, we used to play pretend. Hollywood never grew up.

President Obama ends his time in office with a “legacy tour”. Jeff Jacoby opining in the Boston Globe this week on that tour and the eight years of Presidency of Obama by highlighting the myriad ways which lead up to Nov. 8, 2016. “Obama’s accession in 2008 as the nation’s first elected black president was an achievement that even Republicans and conservatives could cheer. It marked a moment of hope and transformation; it genuinely did change America for the better. It was also the high point of Obama’s presidency. What followed, alas, was eight long years of disenchantment and incompetence. Our world today is more dangerous, our country more divided, our national mood more toxic. In a few days, Donald Trump will become the 45th president of the United States. Behold the legacy of the 44th.”

A 2017 message for all those who voted for the new administration, and for hope of better days ahead. To all those on the left and who are still in denial, think of “Wizard of Oz” and the last thing the wicked witch of the west said after Dorothy brought some reality to Emerald City, “You cursed brat! Look what you’ve done! I’m melting! Melting! Oh! What a world! What a world! Who would have thought that a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness?”

I am writing to thank all the good Samaritans who helped when our horse escaped on Sunday. I hope the lady who stopped and tried to help corner him will see this, and to our wonderful teen neighbor who was the hero of the day! And, all the nice people who assisted by just being patient on the road, offering a ride, and more. It was so windy and he was just spooked! It was a great outcome, so thanks to so many kind people. I couldn’t have done it alone. THANK YOU ALL!

Has all form of sensibility and respect been completely lost? From people who ride your tailgate with their bright lights on to the woman ahead of me at the DMV, with a flu bug so bad her voice was gone and she could barely stand up, have we lost all common sense? Stay home if you’re sick, you exposed the dozen of us to an illness none of us want.

~

Good news for the public. When the President-elect, the Republican Wizard of Oz or monstrous clown attacks anything it’s a relief for us out here to know that we’re hearing from a world-class liar. This guy would not know a fact if he fell over it. Believe me, he is going to claim that he is responsible for the sun rising every morning. Keep your eye on that orange head.

~

Do you Trump voters now see what you did to this country by voting for him? You believed everything he promised; I didn’t and I won’t feel guilty if we go to war, lose Social Security, Medicare and so much more. People fell for all his lies. Don’t you feel concerned you elected someone who mocks disabled people and hires people who are billionaires? Yes, Trump will make American very sick again.

So this year I turned 53 and had my license expire on my birthday, so did my car. I went in a hurry to renew my license until I could get my car fixed. I stopped at the local gas station to buy tobacco, a place I stop every day for more than 30 years. They wouldn’t sell it to me because my license had expired. They refused to sell me tobacco even though they knew I was old enough. I think that’s just a little bit ridiculous and overkill.

In response here are just a few specific reasons Obama is so disliked. The lying to the American people about Obamacare. The Benghazi mess, the allowance of refugees into our country with no vetting process, the IRS mess, allowing the release of Guantanamo dangerous terrorist prisoners, being a weak world leader leaving us less safe than eight years ago, the Middle East mess, our sinking economy. Need I continue? Hopefully you will understand it now. I find it very sad that people cannot grasp his legacy as his one of nothing. He has done nothing in his eight years for the American people.

~

Four dangerous Guantanamo detainees are being let go today by Obama. Can somebody please explain to me why Obama continues to do this? I struggle with this.

~

It’s been reported that Trump wants to revamp our spy network including the CIA and other intelligence agencies. The reason for this, obviously, is that he wants to hide the ties he has to Russia and Putin. The KGB will be in charge. Follow these breaking news items.

~

Obama was a sophomore student at Occidental college in Los Angeles in 1980. Among his friends were John Drew, Caronline Roos, and his Pakistani roommate Mohammed Chanloo. Here is an exact quote from now Dr. John Drew, who had many hours of political discussions with Obama, “He (Obama) was arguing a straight forward Marcus Lemonis class struggle point of view, which anticipated that there would be a revolution of the working class led by revolutionaries who would overthrow the capitalist system and institute a new Socialist government that would redistribute the wealth.” So much for Obama not being a Marxist.

Donald Trump is a 21st Century PT Barnum where a new sucker is born every minute.

Will somehow please find a way to even give us maps of the valley because of all the new roads they changed, or make sure the GPS that we buy to run in our cars has the right streets and addresses. They do not, and my daughter just went to the Apple above Rochester and got lost because her GPS took her out on a country road. Now, please somebody get the counties to give us maps of what they’ve done to our towns or give us the availability to buy one. We used to pick them up at gas stations for free!

~

For all you so called conservative voters who elected your great leader, Donald Putin Trump, have you seen the latest news that Putin ordered his military to hack the elections to help Trump get elected? If this isn’t treason against the United States what is it? He was nothing but in cahoots with the Russians and if you people still support him you should resign and leave the country. You need to sell everything you’ve got and walk away from this country because you are not Americans. I’m so sick of you so called Republicans saying you think everything is great in your world.

~

I can’t believe these Democrats. Whenever I go to a casino I do wear my rose colored glasses, but when reality sets in and the odds prove against me I do lose. When this happens I paste on a smile, head for the door and go home. Cancel the fireworks, return the inauguration gown, go home and leave the driving to us.

I thought I tried call it in again, I called it in last week and I didn’t see it in the Pennysaver. When Owego mayor and board members were running to get elected they had a meeting with the public. I went, and my concerns were that they wanted to get rid of OPD. They denied this and said they said they weren’t. If I had known then that they were lying I would have voted for the other party. I am a taxpayer. They want to get rid of the OPD, and there will be more drugs and crime. This is not a small village like Nichols or Richford. Instead of police, consolidate the Public Works with the Town of Owego. For the cemetery, collect bids to mow and take care of it. Right now they are doing a poor job of mowing. It is even on the historical register and it looks like heck. Seems like they’re hot to get rid of OPD. My question is why?

Politics and religion is always a volatile subject. Personal opinions of either side should be able to voice about criticism. It seems that those who sway towards the liberal side of politics really speak their mind against conservatives; however, when conservatives voice their opinion the liberals take offense and say they are personally being attacked. Why is that? Both sides should be able to discuss their views freely without personal attacks. Is it because the outcome of this election is creating fear that benefits may be at risk? Secondly, I ask can we get back to local issues in this column? The election is over; comments for or against the outcome will not change where this country is at right now. I’d like to see that we get back to local issues outside of politics.

~

Hello readers, can we get off the Democrats lost the election deal? It’s time to support Donald Trump. He’s trying very hard to get us headed in the right direction. Quit being crybabies!

To answer one caller, Nobama will not be going back to Chicago, he bought a mansion in Washington D.C. and will live there. And guess what he built first? Why it’s a big tall brick wall. As Obama has said many times, “walls don’t work”. For the caller who questions why we let in so many Syrian Muslim refugees, guess what? The Obama regime has let in 11,000 Muslims and 57 Christians so far. I guess Nobama thinks that is totally fair.

~

Somehow I really think Obama and Clinton wish they could push that reset button. Not me, more jobs staying here and the stock market up. Now that’s what I call progress.

I’d like to comment about the person who said they would no longer be supporting the library and they consider them unnecessary. I don’t have the means to invest in technology and of course I don’t have a computer, but I love going to the library and using theirs. I think libraries are very important.

The recent occurrence in Tioga Center, with the noise that was heard for miles and miles and shook the ground in two or three states surrounding us, I have never seen anything dropped so quickly and closed up with no information in my life. All we got was it was legitimate. Does that mean they can do it every day? What was it? Where was it? How come it existed? Can it happen? Can anybody go do it? My God, the investigation is closed period, goodbye. What kind of an investigation is that and what is being hidden?

Does anyone know where we could find (I believe it’s called) an ascender that goes inside a gas tank of a ‘96 Jeep Cherokee Sport? All the junkyards don’t seem to have them. If anyone has an old jeep that’s hanging out and we could get the part it would be wonderful. If anyone has one or knows where I could find one, please call me at 625-3564.

So, after all these years, as you and I both know it has been there forever, they have decided to close down the 34 exit onto Spring Street. Now I have to ask you, he said he had talks with people around that area and happened to know the code enforcer lives down that way so maybe the code enforcer was the only person that was informed of this deal. Why? If we needed an ambulance in a hurry, would it know enough to go around the area? It doesn’t know the streets as they are now! What the heck is padding these pockets before retirement? Come on and tell me something about this. I live on Spring Street.
