On Saturday, Nov. 12, storefronts will be decorated and entertainment will fill the streets as the Historic Owego Marketplace (HOM) presents their annual Holiday Showcase from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in historic downtown Owego.

Start your holiday shopping when the Historic Owego Marketplace opens the doors on this festive event, taking place in the downtown Owego business district. Santa arrives at 11:30 a.m. to visit and pose with children at the Elks Lodge.

The enchantment continues with free carriage rides, cartoon caricatures at the Riverow Bookshop, and music and street entertainment throughout downtown.

The merchants downtown have been preparing for this special event, with storefronts decorated and specials offered for holiday shoppers.

A free shuttle from the Tioga County Fairgrounds will make your visit a breeze.

To learn more, or for a schedule of events, visit www.owego.org; and remember to shop local this year.

Also, ODOG is collecting dog and cat food for distribution to Tioga County Food Pantries.

Your donation can help make the difference between stay or go for some of our neighbors that could use a little help feeding their beloved pets.

During the Holiday Showcase on Dec. 12, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.,  The Black Cat Gallery will serve as a drop off site for pet food donations. Look for the silver can at 190 Front St. in Owego.

Throughout the year, donations can be made at the Rebecca Weitsman Memorial Dog Park.
