Food drive taking place during ‘Hunger Awareness Month’

Catholic Charities Tompkins / Tioga Outreach Center is holding a food drive at several locations through Sept. 30 to help cure hunger.

Bins will be located at the Department of Social Services, Hollenbeck’s Newark Valley Grocery Store, Lawler’s Grocery Store in Owego, Spencer Surefine, Price Chopper in Owego, the Tioga County Office Building located at 56 Main St. in Owego, and Porter’s Concrete and Cement.

Catholic Charities serves all of Tioga County from their food pantry and clothing closet. They also have a person to help SNAP applicants and conduct nutrition education, and an employment services counselor to assist in job hunting.
