Fall Prevention Awareness events planned at Tioga Opportunities

Falls are the leading cause of injuries for older adults. In fact, one out of every three people over the age of 65 will experience a fall each year. Luckily, many falls are preventable.

Tioga Opportunities, Inc.’s Department of Aging will be offering tips and suggestions to help you reduce your risk of falling on Monday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Countryside Community Center located at 9 Sheldon Guile Blvd. in Owego and on Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Community Fitness Center located at 57 E. Tioga St. in Spencer.

The first 50 people to visit their displays will receive a free nightlight. For more information, call (607) 687-4120, ext. 315.
