Taste of Tioga to take place on Friday

On Friday, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., the annual Taste of Tioga event will take place at Tioga Downs Casino in Nichols, N.Y. Hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Tioga County, the annual culinary event pairs local farms and restaurants for a delicious experience.

The event raises money the educational programs provided by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County. Taste of Tioga is designed to increase awareness for the importance of farming and local food, and is an opportunity to cultivate lasting relationships between farms and consumers.

Tickets to the event are $35 per person, or $40 at the door. You can purchase tickets at Cornell Cooperative Extension located at 56 Main St. in Owego, or from their website, tioga.cce.cornell.edu.

Dishes will be offered this year from The Cellar Restaurant, Donoli’s, the Rail House, The Parkview, Blackbird Bakery and Eatery, Mad Hatter Café and Co-op, Dessert First, Tioga Downs Dining, Baked Euphoria, Las Chicas Taqueria, SweeTrees Maple, The Kitchen Story, Bill’s Restaurant, and more.

Fresh ingredients grown by the following will be utilized – the Bloodnick Family Farm, Stoughton Farm, Kingbird Farm, Our Green Acres, Engelbert Farms, Truman Farms, Purdy’s Produce, Gary’s Berries, Maple Creek Farm, Sweet Meadow Farm, Our Five Acre Homestead, Twin Brook Farm, TLC Blueberry Farm, Terry’s Berries, Shaman s Hill Farm, Side Hill Acres Goat Dairy, and more.

There will also be craft beer tasting from Farmhouse Brewery, wines from New York State presented by Lawlers and Glen Park Vineyard, Coffee from Carol’s Coffee and Art Bar, and ciders and fresh pressed juices.
