Tioga County confronts opioid issues

On June 21 at 1 p.m., in the Tioga County Hubbard Auditorium located at 56 Main St. in Owego, community leaders, government agencies, non-profits, and dignitaries will meet to organize, determine needs, and be collaborative in all initiatives related to the opiate epidemic in Tioga County.

New York State OASAS has provided funding for a Community Planner, Earl Greene, to work in Tioga County and will be presenting information pertinent in building and sustaining a coalition.

Tioga County has programs underway to address this issue and this meeting will highlight and incorporate these programs into a more aggressive and cohesive group.

Martha Sauerbrey, Tioga County Legislative chair commented, “This is a priority and I am looking for you to support this effort,” and said that she intends on being actively involved in this process and will work to insure that these efforts are effective.
