Depot Friday Night Series continues

The Depot Friday Night Series continues on June 24 with singer and guitarist Daphne Braden. Daphne brings vocals with guitar accompaniment for a wide variety of musical styles from pop and rock to jazz, blues, country and classic hits. Daphne creates a variety show atmosphere with sing-alongs and props for audience participation.

On July 1 Bruce Dedrick will bring his Little Big Band back to the Depot for an evening of easy listening to the Swing Era music. The Little Big Band will take you back to a time when the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Benny Goodman came to you from your radio and the Lindy Hop and the Jitterbug ruled the dance floors. Bruce’s band has performed throughout the Northeast and their repertoire is extensive and versatile and their sound is second to none.

The Horseshoe Lounge Playboys with Randy Miritello return to the Depot on July 8 for a concert of acoustic backwoods and Americana rocking roots music. Randy is our hometown star and this concert is always a favorite with our audience. The Horseshoe Lounge Playboys have played with Arlo Guthrie, Ricky Scaggs and Willie Nelson, and are a high energy, enthusiastic band that will have you clapping your hands and tapping your toes.

The Depot in Newark Valley is on Depot Street and the doors open on Friday evenings at 6 p.m. with programs beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free and refreshments are available. Weather permitting, the musical programs will be outside so bring a lawn chair.

The Depot series is sponsored by the Newark Valley Historical Society. Visit nvhistory.org or email nvhistory@stny.rr.com for more information.
