I am so happy that Cal Harris got a not guilty verdict. After 15 years of losing everything, never able to rest and his children tormented trial after trial, thank God the judge had a heart. I always thought Texas looked suspicious!

~

The Strawberry Festival is coming soon. I sincerely hope all day we don’t see young children in carriages with the top shade not down to cover sunburn on their faces. Many children have barefeet, bare legs with no thin blanket to protect their sunburn legs. News says burns in children turn to cancer later in life. Pets are dragged around all day needing water in huge crowds. Let’s have fun and protect our children and pets.

Need field mowed – 15 level acres. Free hay. Top of Evelien Hill Road, right side. Call 785-3934 after 6:00 p.m. or leave a message any time.

~

I was driving toward Tops and got by Lourdes Family Care. A huge turtle was in the middle of the road heading for the river. All traffic stopped and a man jumped out of a truck and grabbed the snapper by the tail and put it in the grass toward the river. Where are the turtle signs?

I was wondering if someone could please give me the right direction on who to call in the Village of Owego when you constantly have a dog yapping continually under your window at all hours of the evening and quite early in the a.m. It’s really quite ridiculous. I would appreciate some insight on this because I have called everybody and no one does a thing.

When Mr. Trump was asked about his taxes his answer was, “None of your business”. That means not just George Stephanopoulos in an interview on ABC, that means us, the voters. Release the bombshell Mr. Trump.

~

Follow the sad news. Everyone knows the fix is in to coronate Hillary the timid who just refused to debate brave Bernie on Fox news. Poor Bernie just does not get it. The Marxist Democrat elites have already decided who the Democrat candidate should be. Now the question is, will Bernie fold like an accordion just before the convention and throw his support behind Hillary? Fat chance, he will not!

~

In last week’s paper, the comment that contained information regarding Sweden, apparently they didn’t quite hear it right or saw another statistic but the tax rate in Sweden is 47 percent, not 40 percent.

~

Bah Humbug, Cal Harris will pay the price one day. He’s guilty.

~

Follow the news. Why do you think Donald Trump is going on the attack against Clinton? It’s because he is absolutely unable to tackle the current issues that are problems for all of us trying to make ends meet these days. With his fluster dredging up the suicide of Vince Foster and other tragedies he can completely avoid discussing those things that are most important to all of us as American taxpayers.

~

What’s behind the buffoon Donald Trump’s attack on women? He’s gone beyond Hillary Clinton and now attacking the Governor of New Mexico. What is the matter with this guy? Has he no respect for women whatsoever?

~

Well I’m sure glad justice was finally served in the Cal Harris case. After all, everybody knows it was the one armed man.

~

I believe the Waverly school system should go back to the old math. It just doesn’t add up to cut a whole school and not cut any staff members whatsoever. Last I knew 2+2=4, so how can you not get rid of any high priced teachers, administrators, principles, cafeteria staff, janitors, etc.?

~

I’m calling to put my opinion in on the Calvin Harris trial. It just goes to show you that with our judicial system it’s hard to convict an innocent man. It goes to prove an innocent man isn’t always wrongfully convicted. It also goes to prove if you have a lot of money and you are guilty you can walk free if you keep putting it off long enough and keep spending money. Cal Harris is proof of it.

~

If Cal Harris thinks it was hard for 15 years with his children, what do you think Michelle has done without her children? He is going to meet his real maker. Watch the news, some day that man will pay.

~

This talk about the local developers claiming to be making bomb shelters and Trump’s hand on the nuclear button makes me think of the Barry Goldwater ad from 1964 that you have a little girl picking petals off a daisy and you have an atomic bomb going off. That’s what it makes me think of.

~

It’s a sad commentary that Donald Trump views the world situation as a business venture. Government and business are not the same. It will be to the sorrow of those who support such a concept that will lead to unknown tragedy.

~

I’d like to hear from callers the reason why they think Donald Trump should be our next President of the United States.

~

Cal Harris was acquitted because he is a millionaire. People who have money like Cal and Judge Mott stick up for each other. Judge Mott was seen driving up to the Courthouse in his Jaguar sports car. If a poor person were on trial before Judge Mott they would have been found guilty.

~

News flash! Trump won’t debate Bernie Sanders. Who didn’t know that? Trump couldn’t beat Dan Quail in a debate.

~

I think a psychiatric evaluation should be mandatory for presidential nominees.

~

Who says Donald Trump is a great businessman? First, he inherited a huge fortune, he’s gone through numerous bankruptcies, and he’s the only guy I know who lost money owning a casino!

~

Why does New York Lottery hate Upstate New York so much? There’s such good honest people here playing the lottery, providing money for education, but yet we seldom ever see winners in Upstate New York.

~

There’s an old proverb that suits Donald Trump. The higher the monkey climbs the more you see of its talents.

~

Follow the news. Our incompetent loser in chief, nobama, cannot fix the

Veterans Administration who’s stooge leader Bob McDonald should be fired for his inept remarks about Veterans unacceptable wait times for serious medical care and Disneyland operations. I think that the Disneyland executives could run the VA better than McDonald.

~

It’s nasty when people don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom. I’ve seen some of that.

~

I see where we got a new superintendent for Owego Apalachin. Well that’s pretty good I guess; he doesn’t even have to live in the county! There’s only one way to fix it. We’ve got to get rid of the board puppets; they’re scared of the teachers union and everything else. If you don’t do that you’re not going to gain anything!

~

Hillary Clinton is a Democrat. Hillary Clinton promised to debate Bernie Sanders then refuses to. She is a liar. She won’t release her records on the Wall Street meetings. Donald Trump is a Republican. He also agreed to have a debate with Bernie Sanders and then does an about face which also makes him a liar. He won’t reveal his tax records. Bernie Sanders would chew them up and spit them out with no problem. He is a very smart person and would have no problem debating either. He is not either Republican or a Democrat, he is a Socialist which is fine by me. I believe it’s time for a change.

~

Could somebody tell me why Cal Harris was surprised when they came back with a not guilty verdict? If he was innocent he should have known that’s how it should have come out, so why was he surprised?

~

This is for the family on West Beecher Hill that lost their cat. I’m sorry you lost a member of your family. We have a cat that has kittens, if you would like one you can have your pick of the litter. Respond to the newspaper, you can start your best friend all over again.

Looking for photos or memorabilia for Town of Tioga history to display at the Tioga County Fair. Anyone who might have something please contact Concord at 687-2292 or the Town Supervisor at 658-6990. All items will be returned to owner.

~

Better keep those made in China Trump hats, Make American Great Again. You’ll need them after four years if he gets in.

~

I’m glad Richard Hanna is no longer a Congressman. He did nothing for New York State. Just like so many other congressmen do, they make good money and are worthless.

~

Somebody has been calling my number and hanging up. It’s most likely a telemarketer. Well, they’ll get tired of doing that eventually.

~

I think the DA should have to tell taxpayers how much extra he was paid for these trials, plus how much it costs the county to have an outside prosecutor to help him do his job.

~

Hillary Clinton is a typical politician that tells you only the part of the story that makes her look good. Yes, other secretaries of state had private email accounts when they should not. She fails to tell us that before she took that office; the rules about these email accounts were changed and she ignored these new rules.

~

If Hillary Clinton is elected president twice, there will have been a Bush or Clinton involved in every presidential election for 40 out of the last 44 years! We will have had a president named Bush or Clinton for 28 of those years. Sounds like a plutocracy to me. So what happened in 2012? Hillary Clinton was otherwise occupied as Obama’s Secretary of State.

Does the Town of Owego have specific codes for junk and tall grass? There has been “junk” around the building that housed Santacroce barbershop on Pennsylvania Avenue in Apalachin for a year or more. Looks like a junkyard. Also there are at least two houses on Pennsylvania Avenue and one on Meadow Lane in Apalachin that appear to be abandoned and the grass is at least a foot tall. What can be done about these eyesores?

~

Captain John Plumb, U.S. Naval Reserve, candidate for the 23rd Congressional District will be at the Strawberry Festival on Saturday running in the 5K race and in the parade. If you get a chance talk to him and see what a good congress member he would be for Tioga County. A real supporter for Vets.

~

Two and a half miles from the Owego Central Fire Station to the Hiawatha Bridge and 4.9 miles from Campville Fire Station #1 to Hiawatha Bridge. Response times matter folks.

~

This is in regards to the person complaining about the smoky fires in Owego, by neighbors. If you live in the Village, call OPD. There is an ordinance forbidding such actions. OPD will respond and have the fire extinguished by the people responsible.

This is to the lady that stopped at the yard sale in Candor, N.Y. on Sunday, May 29 and purchased the box of blue glass pint size canning jars. I wasn’t at the yard sale when you came; I had to be away for a few hours and upon returning I was informed that someone had bought my box of blue pint size canning jars. It was noted by one son-in-law that you took them and put them in your truck prior to paying for them. When my wife asked you how much they were you told her $5.00 dollars and omitted that that was for each jar as clearly marked on the box. You must have felt it was a great buy on your part to get them all for $5.00, but I was hurt that I lost money that I should have gotten. In talking to my other son-in-law, he explained to me how you exclaimed about what a great deal it was at $5.00 each, as you know they are selling for at least $15.00 at other places you frequent. If you were to return them, I would gladly refund the $5.00 that you did pay for them. With everything having been said, I have gotten over my anger and hope that you find enjoyment in your purchase. May God bless you and keep you and forgive me for my moments of anger toward you. P.S., they look really good on a shelf or in a window with the sun shining through them.

The Nichols American Legion would like to thank Tioga Center High School students Auora Jaye, and Noah Schweiger for providing the Honor guard with live Taps for our Memorial Day ceremonies. These two students accompanied us to five cemeteries and finished with the noon ceremony at Cady Library. Taking time away from family and friends during the holiday is a true sign of citizenship to the community. Thank you again for doing such a great job. We would also like to thank Tioga Band Teacher Mrs. Julie Coddington for her help.

School employees vote in the district where they live, just as in any other election. They can’t vote in the district where they work unless they live there. And not liking the outcome doesn’t mean the election is rigged. It means your opinion isn’t shared as widely as you believe. As for high school seniors voting – if they are eligible they can vote. Just as in any other election. Nothing special here. Don’t complain. Get out the vote. You’ll have to transport yourself somewhere of course. Why the issue as to where? Should the schools spend money to rent space off campus or keep it cheaper by using their own locations?

~

I would like to thank the woman who slammed a shopping cart into my Blue Nissan car. Then you had the nerve to flee the scene! This happened at the Broad Street Waverly Dollar General! You know who you are and Karma will come back to bite you!

~

The North Avenue Railroad Underpass in Owego is at the required 14-foot clearance. Posting is only required if an underpass is less than 14-feet. The underpass project was done under the purview of NYS DOT. It is a nice job and a vast improvement. There are many ways to fact check. Try some!

~

Ya gotta love it! When interviewed by a reporter, millennials had no problem not having a job and living at home. Their reaction, “Why shouldn’t I live at home? Mom and Dad can afford it.” Now, there’s an attitude we need more of. Older generations were advised that by age 18, they needed to be capable of being on their own, PERIOD!

~

To whom it may concern. I will continue to burn the remainder of my tree stump (often called firewood) anytime I see fit. There is no law against it and I’ll thank you to kindly MYOB in the future.
