OLL News BriefOwego Little League’s (OLL) VP-Baseball Steve Terry announces the inaugural “Fan Appreciation Day” at Hyde Park. It will be held on Sunday, June 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sponsors and volunteers will be recognized.

There will be a Home Run Derby for all age groups and many other fun activities. A radar gun will be set up to see who has the best fastball in Owego.

Take advantage of reduced prices on concession items. All volunteers past and present are invited to come and enjoy a day at the ballpark.    

Softball VP Dave York says the 2016 Softball All Stars have been chosen. They look forward to playing in a few local softball tournaments.

Pitch hit and run went well this year. There were more 2016 participants than last year at the Owego qualifier. Twelve players moved to the Binghamton Regional Qualifier.

Three Owego players made the regional qualifier. Sarah Terry finished second for girls age 9-10. Joshua Terry finished third for boys age 13-14. Talan Schumacher finished first in the 9-10 year old boys group.

Tolan had the chance to move on to the state qualifier if his score was high enough to beat out other regional winners in New York State.

The second half of the 2016 season is underway. League officials say their season is going well. They hope the weather only gets better and all can finish the season without many weather delays.

Player Agent Eric Hawkins announces dates for the post season Hyde Park Tournaments: 12U from Monday, June 27 through Sunday, July 10 with no games on Independence Day Monday, July 4; and 10U from Monday, July 11 through Sunday, July 24.
