Donate your shoes and help homeless animals!

Happy Tails No Kill Animal Shelter is raising funds by collecting shoes. Anyone can donate their new or gently used shoes from now until July 15 at the following drop-off points: Character Cuts salon, 15 Elm St. in Towanda; Sparky’s Family Restaurant in Monroeton (formerly Harkness); and Smile Awhile Ice Cream on route 409 in Wyalusing.

In Owego, N.Y., drop-off points are: the Happy Tails Animal Rescue Owego store at 401 Main St. (hours are Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.); and Aunt Bea’s furniture and primitives, 127 McMaster St.

Shoes should be in good condition, meaning that the soles are intact, there are no holes and they still have life in them. The shoes will go to an organization called Funds2orgs, which will give the shoes to people in need. In return Happy Tails will receive a donation.

Churches, schools, and other groups are encouraged to collect their shoes and then arrange for drop-off or pick-up. For more information, call Claudia Goodenow at (570) 396-7434 or e-mail goodenowclaudia@yahoo.com. In Owego, call Ken Willet at (607) 687-2433 and leave a message.
