The Hiawatha Hammerheads won the Under-11 championship at the Sahlen’s Sports Park Soccer Tournament played in Elma, N.Y. last Sunday. The Hammerheads were unbeaten in matches versus challengers from Buffalo, Niagara Falls Ontario, and Toronto and then defeated the Erie Pennsylvania Admirals by the score of 2 to 1 in the final game to win the tournament championship title.

Paced by the stellar play of goalkeepers Addison Young and Eric Jewson, the Hiawatha Hammerheads allowed just two opposition goals during the entire tournament. Hiawatha coaches awarded the “Player Of The Match” hat to midfielder Kyle Riegel for his outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

The Hammerheads team is part of the Hiawatha Soccer Association of Owego. The team is coached by Bob Tiddick and Jim Franz.
