Plans for the July 4, 2016 celebration in Candor, N.Y. are well underway. If you are interested or know of a community member that is interested in being a part of the committee, let the organizers know by emailing candornyjulyfourthinfo@gmail.com.
The next organizational meeting is Wednesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. at the American Legion, 90 Spencer Ave., Candor, N.Y. New and fresh ideas are always welcome, as well as help with the fundraisers that are critical in making the Independence Day celebration a success.
Funding is necessary to pay for fireworks, bands, entertainment, latrines/sinks, and garbage removal. Kindly consider lending a hand or making a donation.
Upcoming fundraisers include a May 7 Pork Chop barbecue at the Candor Legion. The event will take place beginning at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $10, and their will also be a yard sale. Items will be accepted for the yard sale the week of May 2.
On May 20, Gwen’s Fish Fry will take place at 6 p.m. at the Legion. The cost is $10.
On May 28, a Roadside Coin Collection and vendor sale will take place at the Legion. Reservations and information about table rental fees are available from Liz at meddlerny@frontiernet.net.
June 12 is the Canduckie Derby. Tickets will be on sale soon, with more details in the coming weeks.
