John Conklin of Apalachin named as RIT Distinguished Alumnus

John Conklin, of Apalachin, N.Y., is the recipient of a 2016 Rochester Institute of Technology Distinguished Alumni Award.

Conklin, who graduated from RIT in 2015 with a degree in applied arts and sciences, is the president, CEO and director of SolarWindow Technologies Inc., a company developing first‐of‐its‐kind electricity‐generating see‐through windows and products. Conklin is focused on developing a team and technology, and eventual commercialization of an emerging next‐generation transparent electricity‐generating coating for glass and plastic for America’s 85 million detached homes and commercial buildings.

He is the founder and vice president of National Solar Systems LLC, a New York-based renewable and alternative energy design and installation firm. He also founded and serves as president of Tellurium Associates LLC, an industrial process design and operations company.

In addition, Conklin is a director for Strategic Edge LLC, a consulting venture advisory and management consulting firm with expertise in startup and venture space. He is an adviser to GlobalOne Sciences LLC, specializing in providing energy analyst and business and product commercialization development services.
