On Jan. 27, 2016, at about 11:13 a.m., New York State Police at Owego responded to a Tioga County 911 report of a one-vehicle rollover accident on Talmadge Road in the Town of Barton, Tioga County, N.Y.
Upon arriving, a trooper found the driver Richard M. Dixson, 73, of Barton, N.Y. to be unresponsive inside his 2003 Ford Ranger. A Greater Valley Ambulance squad arrived on scene an attempted to assist, but ultimately Richard M. Dixson was pronounced deceased at the scene.
An investigation determined that Richard M. Dixson was driving eastbound on the roadway when he lost control on the freshly fallen snow and slid into a ditch off of the eastbound shoulder. His pickup truck continued forward, and then struck a tree causing it to roll over and then stop.
Tioga County Coroner Robert Williams arrived on scene and advised that an autopsy would be conducted at Lourdes Memorial Hospital at a later date. The investigation is continuing.
