Tioga County Economic Development and Planning announces Educational Workshop on NYS Consolidated Funding Application Process

On Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 8 a.m., Tioga County Economic Development and Planning (TCEDP), the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce (TCCC), and Tioga County Tourism (TCT) will host a workshop to help educate business owners, non-profit directors and municipal leaders on the function and processes of the New York State Consolidated Funding Application (NYS CFA). Speakers will also touch on the Upstate Revitalization Initiative (URI).

The NYS CFA is the online application used to submit grant requests to a number of New York State programs to help fund a variety of projects. The workshop will help Tioga County organizations understand what types of projects qualify for the NYS CFA, and what the grant application process is like.

The URI is a $500 million award received by the Southern Tier from New York State for economic development projects, which was awarded in 2015.

“The purpose of the Consolidated Funding Application Readiness Workshop is to prepare Tioga County businesses, municipalities and not-for-profits to participate in the upcoming State funding process,” said LeeAnn Tinney, director of Economic Development and Planning.

Tinney added, “Our goal is to assist Tioga County entities to best position themselves to take advantage of the available opportunities. Tioga County can’t reap the benefit if we don’t play. Let’s get in the game.”

“Although we must wait for the State budget to pass and the Governor’s announcement that there will be a 2016 CFA round, it is important to know what to expect and what information you will need to have ready to apply,” said Rebecca Maffei, director of Tioga County Tourism and recipient of a 2014 NYS CFA grant through the Market NY Program. She added, “Preparation is key.” “The CFA Workshop is an opportunity to learn about what you can do to get your business ready for opportunity. This informational session will help you learn about what incentives are available to take your business to the next step,” said Martha Sauerbrey, Tioga County Legislative chair.
