On Feb. 6 and 7, the Spencer-Van Etten High School Sportsman’s Club will host its fourth annual Sportsman’s Day at 16 Darts Crossroads in Spencer, N.Y. The event will feature many new exhibits, as well as returning exhibits from last year.

There will be everything from hunting with dogs to hunting with guides, artists, taxidermists, wood carvers, archery shops, fishing experts and guides, and much more. There will be an archery range and fly-casing area for children.

Bring and display your trophy mounts of all varieties and have your racks scored by New York State certified scorers. Learn how to prepare a hide for market from trap to sale. Learn how to throw an atlatl.

Also, the Luckey Buck is back. It’s the biggest typical buck ever taken in New York.

Tanglewood Nature Center will be at the event from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. There will be raptors on both days to have your picture taken with, and demonstrations of them flying in the auditorium.

There will be a youth 3d archery tournament from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, and practice on Saturday at the same time. Bring your own gear.

There will be a UKC coonhound bench show on Sunday at 11 a.m. with a hunting dog match show following. Bring your hunting buddy so he/she can meet new friends. Dogs should have their shots, tags, and play well with others. Leashes are required.

Food and drinks will be available for sale during the event, and the admission and booth space are free.

Some new exhibitors this year will be the new Field and Stream store in Big Flats, Pets for Vets, and Stray Haven with adoptable pets.

Hesselson’s will be back with a truckload of “deals”.
