My vote is for Sandra Knapp-Dunbar

Dear Editor,

Why should Sandra Knapp-Dunbar become the next Tioga County Clerk? I believe it is because of her strong experience in accounting and financial administration and her strong organizational, interpersonal, and managerial skills gained from working in the financial arena for local businesses, banks, and community organizations for many years.

I have known Sandra for over 30 years and it is her commitment to service to this community that impresses me most. I recall when she helped to raise funds to successfully purchase and preserve Hiawatha Island, I see her now active in our community as co-chair of the Owego Strawberry Festival Committee to make the Strawberry Festival a success, and as treasurer of the Historic Owego Marketplace.

She has also spent many long hours as secretary for the Waterman Conservation Center board of directors and as a charter member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners and the Food Security and Nutrition Coalition Tioga County.

As Executive Director of the Ti-Ahwaga Community Players, not only did she carry out her regular responsibilities of daily operations, after the 2011 flood in Owego she coordinated all repairs and replacements of utilities as well as clean-up, and successfully worked with FEMA to have the parking lot resurfaced after the flood damage.

Sandra has completed the Leadership Tioga Class and she is a Notary Public.

I am sure Sandra will work hard for us as Tioga County Clerk and I encourage you to vote for her on Nov. 3.

Sincerely,

Meredith Bocek
