Candor Historical Society to host last meeting of the year

The Candor Historical Society’s last meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Candor Town Hall at 7 p.m. The topic for the evening is Bald Hill – The Lost Community, with guest speaker Wayne Myers.

Myers will talk about the farms that were disbanded in the 1930’s when the Federal Government took over, and FDR’s Agricultural and Resettlement program was initiated. The program forced farmers to move away from their three-generation family farms to what was considered better farmlands.

Myers will also talk about the relationship of the Civil War to the community of Bald Hill, and Genealogy. He will have a Genealogy Board, and hope that others in attendance will have some input.
