On Sept. 20, from 1 to 4 p.m., Up the Creek Ladies Consignment Boutique in Owego will be holding their 1st annual trunk sale in which they will be selling, at low cost, 48 brand new formal dresses (with tags) that will benefit local animal shelters.

John Delola, organizer of Shelter Slam, offered the dresses and coordinated the efforts with the consignment shop, located at 928 Route 17C (Fifth Avenue) in Owego, with the proceeds from the sale benefiting area animal rescue groups.

The dresses are normally priced anywhere from $100 to $300, normally, but will be sold for a lower cost to assist in animal welfare efforts.

According to Alicia Beck, sales and marketing manager at Up the Creek Ladies Consignment Boutique, they opened six months ago and are doing very well.

“We have many consigners, and really like to do things that help the community,” said Beck. And the owner, Tammi Seeley, shares this belief.

The store is excited about the trunk sale, and realizes that dancing is very popular in this area – so the dresses will benefit not only area dancers, but also the animals in need in the area.
