Upcoming festival to benefit area youth

The Owego Apalachin (OA) Foundation for Excellence in Education is hosting a music festival at Hickories Park in Owego on Sunday, Sept. 27 from 1 to 6 p.m. This family friendly event will feature local bands that include Triple Down, Ultra Vibe, Making The Band, Mallory Evans and Friends, and The Falconers. There will also be food for purchase provided by Gance’s catering. The cost of the show is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and youth five years and under are free.

All proceeds from this show go to the OA Foundation. The Foundation is a nonprofit community organization that provides educational grants for innovative programs benefiting area youth. They also provide scholarships to graduating seniors at OFA.

Last year, the local chapter of Dollars for Scholars folded. Along with giving out their own grants and scholarships, the Foundation was able to help Dollars for Scholars in their last year of giving, administering 17 additional scholarships to local students.

In 2015 the Foundation gave out 13 scholarships. They would love to fill the loss of Dollars for Scholars by funding even more scholarships in the years to come.

Come out for a day of great music, time with friends, and support educational grants and scholarships for local graduating seniors.
