Farmers’ Market coupons available for seniors

The Department of Aging at Tioga Opportunities, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program is still available. This program puts coupons that can be used at area Farmers’ Markets into the hands of low-income older adults.

If you are a resident of Tioga County, age 60 or older, and have a monthly income of $1,815 or less for a one-person household ($2,456 or less for a two person household), you qualify for a booklet of coupons worth $20. You also qualify if you are 60 or over and currently receive (or are eligible to receive) SSI, public assistance, or Section 8 housing subsidy. One booklet of coupons is allowed per household, and you must use them in the county in which you reside.

A limited number of coupon booklets are still available on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. The coupon booklets are distributed at the Countryside Community Center, 9 Sheldon Guile Blvd. in Owego from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
