Peter Derenthal of Marrero, Lousianna, went home to the Lord at age 56, unexpectedly on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Pete was born in Queens, N.Y. and grew up in Owego, N.Y.
Peter was predeceased by his father, Edwin Derenthal. He is survived by his loving wife Natalia, sons Joshua and Wayne Dear Jr., daughter Miranda Fernon of Ithaca, N.Y., and four grandchildren; Mother Catherine Derenthal of Johnson City, N.Y.; brothers Tom (Kathy Debari) Derenthal of Burlington, Vermont and Brian Derenthal of Horseheads, N.Y., and John Derenthal of New Orleans, Louisiana; sisters Maureen (Ken) Preston of Rochester, N.Y., Anne (Wayne) Prevost of Hartford Conn., Mary (Burton) Caldwell of Owego, N.Y., and Kathleen Derenthal of Johnson City, N.Y.; nieces Sonia Preston, Lauren Prevost and Samantha Caldwell; nephews Michael and Keith Preston, Austin Prevost, and Andrew and Jason Caldwell.
Peter worked for a number of years for Intralox LLC and recently as a manager in coffee distribution for Pacorini Inc. He was very well liked and respected by all. He will be remembered for his infectious optimism, positive attitude, deep generosity and great sense of humor.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Peter also lived for fishing will be missed at the family’s annual get-together vacation to Fairhaven Beach State Park.
Peter had a deep faith in God that kept him going.
A memorial service will be conducted at St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main St. in Owego, N.Y. on Friday, July 24, at 1 p.m. followed by a luncheon in the church hall.
