Farmers’ Market coupons available for seniors

The Department of Aging at Tioga Opportunities, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program will start on July 20. This program puts coupons that can be used at area Farmers’ Markets into the hands of low-income older adults.

If you are a resident of Tioga County, are 60 years of age or older, and have a monthly income of $1,815 or less for a one person household or $2,456 or less for a two person household, you qualify for $20 of coupons. You also qualify if you are 60 or over and currently receive, or are eligible to receive, SSI, public assistance, or Section 8 housing subsidy. One booklet of coupons is allowed per household, and you must use them in the county in which you reside.

Coupons will be available at the following times and locations on a first-come, first served basis:

Monday, July 20 at Dean Street Senior Apartments, 150 Dean St., Owego from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Monday, July 20 at Long Meadow Apartments, 5 Browns Lane, Owego from 3 to 4 p.m.

Tuesday, July 21 at Candor Senior Housing, 75 Spencer Rd., Candor from 2 to 3 p.m.

Tuesday, July 21 at Spencer Senior Housing, 42 Liberty St., Spencer from 3:3 to 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday, July 22 at Elizabeth Square Apartments, 430 Fulton St., Waverly from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Thursday, July 23 at Springview Senior Apartments, 80 Spring St., Waverly from 2 to 3 p.m.

Thursday, July 23 at Community Care Network of Nichols, 139 Roki Blvd., Nichols from 2 to 3 p.m.

Friday, July 24 at Seven Counties Farmers’ Market, 153 Main St. (Rite Aid parking lot), Owego from 10 to 11 a.m.

Monday, July 27 at Nichols Schoolhouse Apartments, 84 Cady Ave., Nichols from 2 to 3 p.m.

Monday, July 27 at Waverly Farmers’ Market, Muldoon Park (corner of Pennsylvania and Park Avenues), Waverly from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday, July 28 at Newark Valley United Methodist Church, 70 South Main St., Newark Valley from 2 to 3 p.m.

The coupon booklets will also be available at Tioga Opportunities, Inc.’s Countryside Community Center, 9 Sheldon Guile Boulevard in Owego from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday starting on Monday, July 20.
