The Tioga County Open Door Mission and The Red Door are accepting applications for their children’s backpack giveaway sign ups. Tioga County families must bring proof of residency, school district and financial need.
Families from the Waverly school district can sign up for the event at their Red Door location at 359 Broad St. in Waverly, N.Y. The Waverly giveaway will be held on Aug. 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tioga County families outside of Waverly can sign up at the Owego location at 425 North Ave. in Owego, N.Y. The Owego giveaway will be held on Aug. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All participants must fill out a financial application prior to the events, and signups will be held until July 31 or as long as supplies last. All supplies are ordered before the giveaway dates, so all children must be signed up before the event to receive a backpack.
