Parker Evans, of Owego, N.Y., earned his first ever A-Main victory at the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint recently at the Evans Mills Motorsports Park. This young, Owego, N.Y. driver, who is racing to the top, was able to hold off all the challengers in the Kevin Ward Jr. Memorial Asphalt Assault.

Kevin Ward was a competitor in the ESS 360 Super Sprints and was killed last year at Canandaigua Speedway.

This win earned Evans $3,400 in the 25-lap feature, including a $2,500 winner’s share thanks to sponsorship for the event from Westward Painting Company, L&J Landscaping and a host of others, according to a release posted by Evans Mills Speedway located in Evans Mills, N.Y.

Parker Evans, well known in the racing circuit in Owego and beyond, is the grandson of Catharine and David Boland of Owego, N.Y. Boland is a racing fan himself and proficient track photographer.

Parker Evans joins the late Kevin Ward Jr. and Lee Ladouceur as the only winners with the series on asphalt, according to the Evans Mills release.

The release quoted Evans as stating, “This has been a long time coming. It seems like we’ve been close a couple times. We got awful frustrated; we’ve switched cars up, changed shocks, everything you can but the driver. We finally got some success. I was feeling pretty under the weather and I didn’t even turn a wrench on the car [that] weekend so I have to thank the guys that help us out.”

Evans earned the pole for the feature via the redraw after an impressive run in his heat race saw him pass Dave Axton late for the victory, the release stated.
