Master Gardeners keep Owego blooming

If you have driven by the courthouse and admired the flowers, strolled along the Riverwalk, or visited the public offices of the Ronald Dougherty Office Building at 56 Main St. in Owego, you have seen the talented efforts of the Tioga County Master Gardeners.

Master Gardeners work hard to maintain these public gardens – and they do it as a group volunteer effort. All season long, the Master Gardeners prune, weed, and plant the trees, shrubs and flowers of the gardens.

The Master Gardeners are always happy to train anyone who wishes to help them with the gardens. To become a citizen volunteer, call Barb Neal at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County by calling 687-4020.

Master Gardeners work on the Riverwalk and other public gardens of the village each Tuesday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The demonstration gardens at the Ronald Dougherty Office Building are tended to every Wednesday morning from 9 to 11 a.m.
