Free community party to take place at Tioga Opportunities, Inc.

Tioga Opportunities, Inc. is celebrating its 50th anniversary of service with a free community picnic and party to be held Saturday, May 30, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Countryside Community Center, 9 Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego.

There will be hot dogs, lots of games and prizes, face and nail painting, and information about many community resources.

A bike parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. Participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes. A limited amount of decorations will be available for those who need them.

The Owego Police Department and Owego Police Benevolent Association will sponsor a bike helmet give-away. The Tioga County Sheriff’s Department will conduct child safety seat checks (and possible replacements).

Among the vehicles on display are the: Owego Fire Department fire truck and ambulance, Tioga County Sheriff’s Department Humvee, FS Lopke, Inc. dump truck, Upstate Shredding –Weitsman Recycling truck and black trailer, Salvation Army canteen, and the Tioga Opportunities, Inc. Energy Services truck.

A beautiful hand-quilted quilt made and donated by Kathryn Ingalsbe will be on display for a raffle at the welcome tent.
