Bike Night to begin at Owego’s Parkview

Tim Ruffo will open up Bike Night on Wednesday with his band. Their performance will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Owego Parkview on Front Street, and near the Court Street Bridge. Tim Ruffo is pictured with band members Anthony (Ant) Hopkins, Jake McKinney and Jack Briedenstein.

On May 27, Bike Night at the Parkview Hotel and Restaurant located in Owego, N.Y., and located directly across from Draper Park near the Court Street Bridge, will kick off Bike Night with the Tim Ruffo Band performing from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This free, annual event began several years ago when Parkview owners Beth and Mark Johnson welcomed motorcycles to their restaurant on Wednesday evenings, and had a DJ playing music for guests to enjoy.

Two years ago, the owners decided to expand the event by bringing in live entertainment for guests. This addition grew the crowd from an average of 30 motorcycles per week, to over 100 motorcycles on evenings where the weather was good.

Last year saw rain on far too many Wednesday evenings, and the owners are hoping for sunny skies for the event this year.

To track whether the event will take place or not in the case of inclement weather, check the Owego’s Parkview Hotel/Restaurant on Facebook, or Bike Night at the Owego Parkview on Facebook. If it is going to storm, the owners will post any cancellations by 2 or 3 p.m. on the date of the event.

This year, Mark Bennett from Shark Audio will be providing sound for the bands. Slated to perform are the following: May 27 – Tim Ruffo Band, June 3 – Wreckless Marci, June 10 – The KiiL, June 17 – The Cats featuring Jeff Howell, June 24 – Spexxx, July 1 – Spelunkers, July 8 – Deveroe, July 15 – Rhythm Road, July 22 – Woodshed Prophets, July 29 – L’Ectric w/Marv Williams, Aug. 5 – Iron Horse, Aug. 12 – Playin’ Possum, Aug. 19 – String of Pearls, Aug. 26 – Phillip’s Head, and Sept. 2 – The Cats featuring Jeff Howell.

This blend of entertainment will offer regional and local entertainment for guests. The owners brought in several new bands this year that have not been featured in past years.
