Guthrie post-concussion support group announces final meeting of the school year

Just a week after the 31st Guthrie Gallop, the Guthrie post-concussion support group for athletes and their families will hold its final meeting for the school year on Sunday, May 17, at 2 p.m. in the 4 Blue Conference Room located on the fourth floor of the Guthrie Medical Group in Sayre, Pa. The meeting is free and open to the public. Funds raised at the Guthrie Gallop on May 9 in Sayre support this important program.

The group offers support to athletes, and their families, who are dealing with sports related post-concussion syndrome and those who have been forced to stop playing sports or working because of repeated concussions.

This month’s guest speaker is Fawn Weaver. Fawn is a sophomore in high school and attends the Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School. She is also a cheerleader at North Rome Christian Academy. Fawn has suffered from multiple concussions, and she will talk about adrenal fatigue, and how she has combined her love of horses with equine therapy to support her recovery. Fawn will be joined by her mother, Jeanette Weaver.
