The First Friday Art Walk, in conjunction with Historic Owego Marketplace, is pleased to announce The Art Walk Passport, your guide to free entertainment and a chance to win prizes including art and gift certificates. The Art Walk Passport will kick off on Friday, May 1 from 5 to 9 p.m. Events are free and the public is invited.

Stroll the streets of historic Owego enjoying free entertainment and visit participating merchants to pick up your Art Walk Passport. A map and information on all businesses, artists and entertainment to see and hear during your walk will be included. The Passport can be stamped by participating business as you visit the many shops, galleries and restaurants for a chance to win prizes at the final event of the evening – the “Art Mingle” hosted by Original’s Bar and Lounge.

Some of the many highlights include Tioga Arts Council featuring art by Newark Valley and Owego Free Academy high school students, Riverow Bookshop, Early Owego Antique Center, Gallery Forty-One features the show “May Flowers“, Artisan’s Townhouse presents selections from the collection of Kevin Millar and recent works by Robert Merwin, Black Cat Gallery presents art by Carrie Dru Tornatore and the fabulous music of the Triton Trio.

All this and more along with many of Owego’s unique shops including Dunbar Antiques and The ‘Erb Lady, The Left Bank, Quilter’s Haven, and Wine Connection add to a lively evening filled with entertainment, art and unique shopping.

Live music by Band of Strings will begin on the Front Street Deck at 6 p.m. This six-piece band is high-energy acoustic bluegrass born out of the hills between Vestal and Owego.

Rounding out the evening at 8:30 p.m., “Art Mingle” at Original’s Bar and Lounge will feature live music by guitarist Jamie Willard. Jamie’s finger style playing ranges from classical to jazz, and onto rock and country – each with its own passion and raw sophistication. Also featured will be Robert Brown of Rb Artistry. Robert works to master many different genres and styles of art, and even includes digital graphic design and vinyl decals all from his studio at his home in Newark Valley.

The public is invited to join the many artists and merchants on hand to personally say thank you for your support. Be sure to bring your completed Passport for the 9 p.m. drawing and chance to win art, gift certificates and other prizes.
