Klett announces candidacy for Tioga County Clerk

Andrea Klett announced recently that she would be running for the office of Tioga County Clerk. Robert Woodburn, who will be retiring at the end of this term, currently holds the position.

Klett was appointed by the Owego Town Board as sole Assessor on Oct. 1, 2007 when the previous Assessor retired and suggested that she be his successor. Andrea has worked for local government for most of her career, both for the Town of Owego and the County of Tioga. She also served three years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in September 1992. She earned her Bachelors of Science from Cornell University in May of 1996. Andrea has worked for the Town of Owego as a deputy tax receiver, an assessor’s aide, and secretary to the Planning and Zoning Department, assessment clerk and now as the sole appointed assessor.

Klett feels that she would be an excellent County Clerk due to her experience in many facets of local government and her understanding of the importance of detailed record keeping. Andrea has lived in Tioga County almost all of her life and has a deep seeded connection to this area.  Her mother, Carole LaPlante, is a retired Tioga County Clerk and Andrea feels that it would be an honor to serve the taxpayers of Tioga County the same way that her mother did. She also feels that her ability to listen to what the constituents need and to accommodate them with any and all information at her disposal will be a huge asset as Tioga County Clerk.

Robert Woodburn will be retiring, effective Dec. 31, 2015, and his term would have ended this fall.
