OLL News Brief

Baseball VP Chris Rieg had this good news for his Owego Little League (OLL) Baseball managers and coaches on Thursday. “We can start practicing now but outfields only. Please use good judgment. We need to work with each other until we get the practice schedule.”

A four-inch cover of snow on the fields prevented a Saturday outdoor clinic as well as team and individual practices.

It’s time for a history enthusiast to update the story of the 64-year-old Owego Little League.

Steve Lawrence documented the first five decades as editor and publisher of “A League Of Our Own – 50 Years of Memories” back in 2000.

What’s needed now are new volunteers and an editor to research and write the year-by-year history from 2001 to present.

You may volunteer for this important task or ask for more information about the 14-year history project by emailing jraftis2@stny.rr.com.

OLL is an all-volunteer organization that cannot provide Little League programs to area youth without the generous donation of time and effort from everyone.

Volunteering can involve helping coach, manage, work the concession stand, etc. Big or small, there’s always something that you can do that will be greatly appreciated by someone.

Consider being a practice coach, umpire when needed, member of the field prep crew and clean up team after games, scorekeeper, an as needed volunteer in any capacity that the league deems necessary or assist an officer in the performance of one of their duties.
