Computer classes for adults offered in Owego

The Tioga Adult Learning Lab (T.A.L.L.), a program of Literacy Volunteers of Broome/Tioga Counties, Inc., in collaboration with Tioga County N.Y., is still registering adults for basic skills computer classes, April through June. A grant funded program, there is no charge for the workshops, classes or open lab sessions.

T.A.L.L. will begin the spring session with the very popular and comprehensive basic skills class of “The Basics of Microsoft Windows 7, Word & Excel”. Beginning on Tuesday, April 7 and meeting through May 13, this 6-week class geared at beginner and intermediate level computing will meet every Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Students will learn the basics of using a computer focusing on Windows 7, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Also offered April through June are the following workshops: “E-Mail Basics”, offered April 9, April 20 or May 28 (choose one session); “The Internet Made Easy!”, offered April 27, May 18 or June 2 (choose one session); “Basics of Microsoft PowerPoint “, offered on May 19 and 21 (attend both evenings); “Social Networking – Using Facebook”, May 26 and 27 (attend both evenings); “Resume Success”, choose one two-evening session of either May 4 and 11 or June 8 and 10; and “Basics of Microsoft Publisher”, offered on June 3.

All classes will meet evenings, 6 to 8 p.m., Room 248 at the Owego Free Academy, Sheldon Guile Boulevard, Owego, N.Y. Students must be pre- registered to attend, and can do so by calling the Literacy Volunteers office at (607) 778-6406. Literacy Volunteers is a United Way agency.
