The S-VE school district wants to spend your money

Dear Editor,

On Tuesday, March 24, the Spencer-Van Etten School District will have the annual school bus vote. The timing is as usual when the snowbirds are gone so they cannot show up.

The cost to the taxpayers for the vote is maximized. We already had the building vote at great cost. Every vote should be combined with the budget vote in May. Cost is of course not an issue when the S-VE school district wants to spend YOUR MONEY.

During the merger mania, we were told that the student population is shrinking so we can close the Middle School and house the students elsewhere. With the shrinking student population, one would assume that the need for more transport capacity would be a waste. But now we are urged to vote for an additional vehicle for the fleet! This in addition to replacing three buses!

With fewer students, one would also assume that the buses would last longer. Now they want to use taxpayer money to replace buses as soon as they are broke in. From replacing buses at ten to 12 years they now want to do it twice as often, after five to seven years.

All of the above naturally without a public hearing, or any information about the bonding cost. Send a message!

Sincerely,

Rainer Langstedt
