Sign Up now on www.eteamz.com/owego for the Owego Baseball Winter Clinic run by Owego Free Academy (OFA) Baseball Coaches and Staff and Varsity Baseball Players. Apalachin Little League players are most welcome to attend and are asked to register.

OLL VP Baseball Chris Rieg and VP Teener League Jim Lavo encourage all players 14 and under attend the clinic from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28. There will be various stations set up in both the Owego Apalachin Middle School and Owego Free Academy High School gymnasiums.

Themes of the clinic are philosophies and fundamentals taught by Owego Free Academy Head Baseball Coach Phil Schofield and his staff in their baseball program, from modified to varsity. Coach Schofield will introduce his coaching staff from modified to varsity. Varsity players will introduce themselves.

Schofield stated, “We will be working on throwing fundamentals (infield, outfield, pitchers, and catchers), fielding fundamentals, and of course hitting fundamentals. My coaching staff will be working the event along with my varsity baseball players. This is a big step for these kids to learn important skills of the game and prepare for the next level of baseball.”

He added, “ I want to make sure the kids who signed up get to every station and learn all positions. When they get to the school level, we really need versatile athletes who can adjust and play multiple positions.”

Owego Girls Softball players ages seven through 12 completed four of six clinics on Feb. 2, 5, 9 and 12 to prepare for the 2015 season.

Consider OLL as your way to give back to the community. Volunteering is fun! It’s a great way to meet new people, use your skills/expertise for good, build relationships, and positively impact the lives of youth.

What’s a volunteer? Why does OLL need volunteers? An OLL volunteer is any person who freely offers to contribute their time, skills or service to help the league strengthen or expand its impact on youth baseball. OLL is a volunteer run organization that works best if more adults are involved.

Some of the volunteer opportunities are Coaching, Opening Day, Team Parent, Scorekeeper, Umpires, Fields and Grounds, Fence Sign Advertising, and Team Sponsorship. All volunteers must complete the Little League Volunteer Application.
