Students on the Move!

Jordan Williams, a 2012 Owego Free Academy graduate, finished her last semester at SUNY Broome on the President’s list and is now is attending SUNY Oneonta.

Kay Pfleghardt, of Owego, N.Y., recently received her Associate in Applied Science Degree in Accounting from Alfred State. Nearly 130 two- and four-year degree candidates received diplomas from Alfred State this December. Associate and baccalaureate degrees were awarded in fields of agriculture, health, business, vocational, and engineering technology, as well as the arts and sciences.

Dr. Kristin Poppo, vice president for academic affairs at Alfred State, has announced the Dean’s List of students for the fall 2014 semester. Of those, are the following Tioga County students: Alex Seaver of Apalachin (Welding Technology), Dustin Thomas of Berkshire (Heavy Equipment Operations), Samuel Frauenhofer of Endicott (Architectural Technology), Andrew Pionteck of Endicott (Construction Mgmt Eng Tech), Tyler Kwiatkowski of Owego (Heavy Equip. T & D Technician), Chloe Depew of Waverly (Human Services), Christopher Jenkins of Waverly (Building Trades – Building Construct), and Brian Lanphere of Willseyville (Heavy Equipment Operations).

Students from both the Alfred campus and the School of Applied Technology campus in Wellsville are selected for the Dean’s List if they maintain a 3.50 grade-point average (GPA) out of a possible 4.0.

Tricia Soper of Berkshire, N.Y. was named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2014 Semester at Maryville College for her studies in International Business.

Qualification for the Dean’s List includes a grade point average of at least 3.6 in all work undertaken with no grade below a “C.” Only full-time students are considered for the Dean’s List.

The Spring 2015 semester will begin on Jan. 28. Commencement exercises are scheduled for May 17.

Maryville College is ideally situated in Maryville, Tenn., between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Knoxville, the state’s third largest city. Founded in 1819, it is the 12th oldest institution of higher learning in the South and maintains an affiliation with the Presbyterian Church.
