Register for the 2015 season of Owego Little League Tee Ball and Baseball and Girls Softball and Teener League Baseball in person on Thursday, Feb. 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Tioga County Boys and Girls Club on Erie Street.

Online sign up continues online at www.eteamz.com/owego. OLL Player Agent Eric Hawkins ehawkins1@stny.rr.com will address any computer sign up issues.

There are two positive changes for the 64th season. Four year olds may play Tee Ball. New sign up age date is Jan. 1. This is a Little League International change.

Owego Free Academy Head Baseball Coach Phil Schofield says, “Our goal at the Winter Clinic by OFA Baseball Coaches and Varsity Players is for Owego and Apalachin Little League and Teener League players age 14 and under to become more familiar with the philosophies and fundamentals that are taught in Owego’s baseball program – from modified all the way up to varsity.

“It is important for these kids to learn what we preach as soon as possible, because it will only benefit them once they get to school ball. This is a process that many successful programs around the area do.

They will be working on throwing fundamentals (infield, outfield, pitchers, and catchers), fielding fundamentals, and of course hitting fundamentals.

“The clinic will have various stations set up in both the Owego Apalachin Middle School and Owego Free Academy High School gymnasiums and will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28,

VP Teener Baseball Jim Lavo urges parents and coaches to observe what and how the players are being instructed. Parent observation is very important to learn tips on how to help their child. New and experienced coaches learn valuable techniques on how to instruct a team.

VP Softball Dave York says six clinics in February will prepare girls from ages 7 through 12 for the 2015 season of Owego Girls Softball. They’ll be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the OAMS and OFA High School gyms.

The first clinic was Feb. 3, the second will be Tuesday, Feb. 10. First of four Thursday clinics was Feb. 5 and the others will be held on Feb. 12, 19 and 26.

On Wednesday, March 11, for all those wanting to coach, there will be a mandatory coaches meeting at the Ronald E. Dougherty County Office Building at 56 Main St. in Owego.

On Saturday, March 21, an indoor clinic precedes the annual Player Drafts.
