Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Erwin Flohr and his family in the Netherlands

The following letter was received by Jim Raftis Sr., of Owego, N.Y., from Erwin Flohr and his family, Angela, Mark, Quinten and Luke Flohr. Erwin Flohr decorates graves of Tioga County Veterans buried overseas.

“Dear Mister Raftis,

From the Netherlands we wish all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Here’s artwork that a Dutch artist made especially for me. I asked for a U.S. Airborne trooper to wish all the U.S. veterans a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We celebrated Christmas Eve with some friends and family. Christmas Day I prepared Christmas dinner as my parents and my wife’s father visited. It was a busy day but one to enjoy.

No white Christmas again this year. That has been five years ago.

Happy Holidays!”
