Robbery at the John Barleycorn being investigated

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a strong-armed robbery in the Village of Owego. Sheriff Investigators report that a male subject entered into the John Barleycorn, located on Front Street in the Downtown district, around 10 a.m. this morning and demanded money from a worker who was inside the establishment.

The suspect then left the building on foot. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5-foot 9-inches tall, with a large build, dressed in dark colored trousers, dark colored jacket over a dark colored hooded sweat shirt and a camouflage hunting mask.

No weapon was displayed and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken during the robbery. The worker was uninjured.

Investigators are asking for the public to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (607) 687-1010 with any information about the incident or from anyone who may have seen an individual who matches or may have closely resembled the description of the suspect.
