Newcomers Club celebrate 75th Anniversary

Forty past and present members of the E.V.E. Newcomers Club celebrated their 75th Anniversary with a High Tea at the Pumpelly House, 44 Front St., Owego, N.Y. Past and present members were there from Binghamton, Endicott, Vestal, Chenango Bridge, Owego, Canada and England.

They were entertained by songs from the Carousel Harmony Chorus “Remember When” Quartet. The club was formed Sept/ 27, 1939 and the original meetings were held in the Washington Tea Room in Endicott.

Current monthly meetings are held at the Vestal Library the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. Interest groups include Book Review, Lunch Bunch, Scrapbooking, Canasta, Mahjongg, and Lunch and A Movie.

The club is open to both newcomers and residents of the area who want to meet new people and have a fun time. For information, call Kay Hahn Casler at (607) 729-1794.
