On Wednesday, Nov. 12 at approximately 9:30 a.m., jury selection in the Douglas Every Trial will begin. Douglas Every, age 62 of Tioga Center, New York, was indicted earlier in the year by a grand jury for murder and evidence tampering.

Douglas Every allegedly stabbed 39-year old Milton Jump at their residence located on Thorn Hollow Road in Tioga Center, New York.

According to Douglas Every’s attorney, George Awad, the defendant has plead not-guilty to the charges of murder and evidence tampering, and a trial has been scheduled to begin on Wednesday in Tioga County, New York’s Courthouse located in Owego, N.Y.

According to Tioga County Sheriff investigators at the time of the incident, which occurred on Oct. 23, 2013, Douglas Every made a call to 911 in the early evening hours. When officers arrived, according to investigators, Douglas Every was standing outside the Thorn Hollow Road home, and Milton Jump was found deceased in the kitchen from a knife wound.

The evidence tampering charge alleges that Douglas Every tried to prevent blood and/or DNA evidence from being lifted off the knife used in the alleged stabbing, according to the indictment.

Douglas Every has remained free on $225,000 bond, and if convicted of the murder charge could face 25 years to life in prison.
