Obituary – Laurance Deforest Dickinson, Jr.

Laurance Deforest Dickinson, Jr. was born March 7, 1937 in Sayre, Pa. and passed away Oct. 21, 2014 in The Woodlands, Texas. Laurance was the son of Laurance Deforest and Jane Espey Dickinson. He was a graduate of Owego Free Academy and attended Cortland State College.

At the age of 16 he learned to fly and after college enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Rabat, Morocco. Afterward he ventured to Texas where he obtained advanced aviation training and licenses. He became an Executive Pilot for Conoco/Dupont, then Meridian Bank after which he retired to River Plantation in Conroe, Texas.

Laurence Deforest is survived by his children – Laurance (Shawn) Deforest Dickinson III, of Conroe, Texas; Todd A. Dickinson of Spring, Texas; and Carrie Dickinson Thomasson of Belton, Texas.

He is survived by his grandchildren Brittany, Davie, and Cameron Dickinson, and Julia and Morgan Thomasson.

He is also survived by his devoted companion Linda Johnston of Conroe, and her daughters Kristine (Brian) Chauvin of Spring, Texas, Jennifer Greenhill of Houston, Texas; and their children Corey and Justine Chauvin, and Jeffrey and Jessica Greenhill.

He is also survived by his sister Suzanne Dickinson of Owego, N.Y. and brothers Clarance Dickinson of San Antonio, Texas and Richard (Connie) Dickinson of Eagan, Minnesota; Nephew Joseph (Carolyn) Palladino, Nieces Nancy (Scott) Houle, Amy Palladino, Heather Hurley, and Lindsay (Michael) Roering.

He is also survived by several grand nieces and nephews.
