Benefit planned for Dale (Corbin) and Ron Wheeland

On Sunday, Nov. 9, the community is invited to attend a benefit for Dale (Corbin) and Ron Wheeland. The event will take place at the Owego Elks Lodge located on Front Street from 1 to 5 p.m.

On June 10, Wheeland suffered a major heart attack that left him with only 20 percent function of his heart. He can no longer work and medical bills are already coming in, with more on the way.

Dale and Ron have given so much to Owego and Tioga County – volunteering as Salvation Army Bell Ringers, working with Southern Tier Alternative Therapies and Special Olympics Equestrian, maintaining the Vietnam Veterans Memorial sign on Route 38, maintaining planters at Draper Park, and Dale being most remembered as “The Crock-Pot Queen” having purchased and provided countless families throughout the County with means of cooking during the Flood of 2011.

Ron and Dale give so much of themselves to others; so the organizers decided it’s time to give back to them. Be sure to check next week’s Pennysaver for more information on the benefit.
